The Last Planner System® has enabled significant improvements in construction projects worldwide. The adoption of LPS in the Australian construction industry is lagging, and the impact of its adoption in Australia has yet to be documented.
The pioneering adoption of the LPS by the Western Programme Alliance (WPA) in recent level-crossing projects presents an opportunity to record and analyze implementation issues and their impact on project performance.
Level crossing removals are part of an infrastructure project in Australia that removes 85 of the most dangerous rail crossings. Currently, 11 level crossing projects in Victoria are utilizing Touchplan to ensure these projects are being completed efficiently.
The WPA and University of Melbourne (UOM) research team conducted a study that produced two work packages. This work paper examines how the LPS process improves when pairing it with a digital software platform like Touchplan.
